I’m President. Now what do I do?

Welcome to my blog!

I was installed as President of Soroptimist International of Salt Lake on June 23, 2010. I’m hoping to share my experiences with my club and all Soroptimists who either are Presidents, have been Presidents, aspire to be Presidents, and never in their lifetimes want to be Presidents.

After the euphoria of my installation wore off, I was reminded of a time, many years ago, as a university student embarking on a social work degree. I was assigned a practicum at the Idaho State Hospital, where I would shadow social workers and eventually have my own small case load.

I had been introduced to the staff and to my supervisor and given a key to the locked ward where I would work. And I distinctly remember hearing the click of the key in the door, locking me in, and everything I had ever known about Psychiatric Social work flying out of my head!

Thankfully, my knowledge of, and love for Soroptimist has not left my head – at least, not yet! I expect to learn much more on this year-long adventure!

Cheri, what a wonderful opportunity for you and what a lucky group the Soroptimists are to have you at their helm for the entire year.

You are an inspiration to so many of us, the manner in which you carry yourself, the integrity embedded into every facet of your life, your passion is contagious and your vision is inspiring!!

I am so impressed by the noble goal of the Soroptimists - if just one women/girl in our community is impacted then VICTORY!! But, I know the organization is impacting SO many more than one in our communities AND around the world.

Wishing you only the best on your year long adventure and I can't wait to hear your stories.
